Susan's Scribbles - January 2018

Happy New Year to you all!

Our New Year as a branch started firstly with our AGM which did see some changes within the committee after the past few years of remaining the same. Our Treasurer John Foster has taken a step back due to some health issues and is now going to take things more steadily but still being an active member with his valuable input. John was also creator and editor of our monthly on-line newsletter The Wanderings. This will now be sent on a quarterly basis and we hope to keep up to John’s standard!

All details for our new Treasurer and Membership Secretary Peter are on the contacts page.

Our Christmas meal at the Trout Inn was a well-attended night and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.

The year ahead is a big year for the Morris Minor, our chosen classic is 70 years old and will be celebrated in style as it is now a true icon of the motoring world, still enjoyed both here and overseas.

Our branch charity for 2018 is Prostate Cancer UK, this charity is being taken on by all the National MMOC led events and lots of other MMOC individual branches, so hopefully together we can raise a lot of money for this lesser known of the cancer charities.

Prostate cancer will affect 1 in 8 men in their life time and kill 11,000 men a year. Within the MMOC there have been lots of members who have been brushed by this little talked about disease. Also many people think that this is an older man’s complaint, it isn’t! It can strike any man during his life time! Our Grand Challenge for this will be at the MMOC National Rally, Kelmarsh Hall on Saturday 23rd June when the most ‘daring’ guys of the National Rally Team will be recreating the Full Monty!!

There is a Just Giving Page for donations –

Our logo for this is Men in a Morris Minor
