Welcome to 2016!

The summer of 2016 has now officially started with damp leaden sky's and a chilly wind!! Does it dampen our enthusiasm? Not a bit!! Well maybe just a smidge but if we let the the British weather get to us we would be going no where.......

Our events up to now have been varied, most have had this years MMOC and Marie Curie theme running through them.

As a team our members made the decision to make our displays a bit more fun this year as opposed to the usual line of members cars attending events we would go out to make some sort of show running alongside. For this we needed some 'honorary members' these have come along in the form of Flopsie The Famous Fundraising Bear, hitch-hiker Marching Matilda and Mush the Mechanic.

They certainly did their stuff at Thornton le Dale Gala as we won 2nd place in the Classic Club Stand!

Our annual tombola at Driffield Vintage Fair and Fun Day was dedicated to raising funds this year for Marie Curie and with the 'honorary members' being only too willing to have their photos taken with the kids it was a great success! The nice thing about money donated to this cause is that it will be going in our local MC coffers and as a branch we are very much in favour of local charities benefiting from our efforts.

We had a pit stop visit on Drive it Day to see our friends at Fimber Halt who are restoring the old Yorkshire Wolds Railway, Richard and his troop of volunteers are working tirelessly to restore this historic site and last year our donation of 150.00 bought them three sleepers with fixings, we aim to do the same this year. Here is some information on this site:

The Yorkshire Wolds Railway was formed in October 2008, exactly 50 years after the closure of the Driffield to Malton Railway.

In 2010 Malton Dodger Ltd was formed to take over the project and operate as 'Yorkshire Wolds Railway'

This information is courtesy of the Yorkshire Wolds Railway.

The engine is now running on the small amount of track that's been cleared and laid up to now and we were all treated to a ride in the cab which was great!
