Sue’s Scribbles March 2010

I can’t believe that another month has gone by and a month since we lost our lovely little Pebbles, I would just like to take the opportunity to thank everyone for there messages of sympathy and support. It would seem nearly everyone has a tale to tell of how they remember her and that is so comforting to both Chris and I.

Paul and Sheena have got themselves a cute new puppy who they have called Arthur. I am sure you will probably get chance to meet him at the Monday night meeting. Lotti and Arthur are already firm friends which is good as they will no doubt be spending a lot of time camping together in the coming months…..

Chris and I went to the Manchester Winter Rally at the end of last month, I won’t say any more about that as Chris has put something together about it on a different page, I will just say how much we enjoyed it though.

Events coming up are on our events page, if anyone has a local event that isn’t mentioned and would like to publicise it please mention it to Chris, also for anyone who would like any entry forms for the MMOC ones I am sure we will be able to provide them. The Northern Regional MMOC Rally this year on the 25th April (Drive it Day) and was originally arranged for Haigh Hall, Wiggan but because of their lack of co-operation it is now being held at the Standedge Tunnel, Huddersfield. The Standedge Tunnel has been painstakingly restored and is the longest canal tunnel in England. It is only a mile and a half into the East side of the country and if you go through the tunnel you end up on the West side! It has a glass topped canal barge which you can go on and it is ‘foot powered’ this means that the canal barge is propelled through the tunnel by people laying on their backs on top of the barge ‘walking’ it through the tunnel. It has a visitor’s centre as well as a coffee shop and is set in some lovely countryside with plenty of walking areas, it is also mostly dog friendly. The local pub which is a very short walk away apparently puts on an extremely good Sunday lunch (always a bonus)! We have entry forms available. Holding this event on Drive it Day will not only enable you to ‘dive’ your car but also have a focal point of interest to visit.

I am attending the Branch Register and Liaison Officers meeting on 21st March in Lutterworth in my capacity as Area 1 Liaison Officer, if there are any issues regarding the MMOC any of you would like me to address please let me know.

As you will know by the email I circulated Norman and Jean received their basket of seasonal bulbs and plants which were very much appreciated, hopefully they will be able to attend this months meeting I know we are all looking forward to seeing them.
