National Rally

Sheena is 50

Hi Guys,

Pebbles and I hope you have all been out and about since last time we met enjoying the sunshine and hopefully missing all these pesky showers – or perhaps down pours in some instances.

We are getting sick of putting a sump pump in our would be pond and draining it to start digging again only to wake up the next day to find we are back to square one, we are even getting ducks joining us!! Hey Ho that’s life, but we were hoping that at this years Rally we would have something of a pond to look at and not just a whacking great hole still!!

The Thoroughbred Car Club meeting in Beverly Market Place wasn’t lucky enough this year to get good weather which was a shame as this is really a large event for our area, I know that Tim and Pam attended and in-between all the rain showers managed to hand out some posters for our Rally.

The Northern Regional has also been postponed until later in the year – see events diary page.

We missed Sledmere as we were at Rosie and Sandie Hamilton’s for the weekend helping them celebrate their ‘special birthdays’ and also their Ruby Wedding Anniversary. As always there we had a really good warm welcome and a thoroughly great time.

I can’t believe this year how many things have all fallen on the same weekends, I would love to go to everything and although work gets in the way sometimes I have to put up with that, we just need more weekends in the year! Paul and Sheena camped at Sledmere but Graham and Jackie having car problems didn’t make it. Tim and Pam could only make the Sunday due to work commitments – even then the weather had to spoil itself at about 3 o’clock. I am just praying that the 25th, 26th and 27th are sweltering hot and not a cloud in the sky. Hopefully all is in place for our Rally and there is just a little tweaking to be done, I will be asking everyone if there are any willing volunteers to help man all posts – by this I mean time share as it is unfair to have someone stood at a particular position all the time. This is our ‘chill out party weekend’ and it is for everyone to hopefully enjoy. Chris, Pebbles, Tess and I are going to camp with everyone as well as we have house guests and a house sitter and have been kicked out of our bedroom! Seriously we were going to camp anyway as last year we did feel slightly out of it sleeping in our own bed in the house………….

Tonight is the last night for any thoughts on the Rally so speak now or forever hold your piece!

We are going to Driffield Show on Wednesday and possibly taking the Pick-Up to help with the Marie Curie fund raising, but more about that next time.

The other piece of news is that I think we might have found our Host Day for next year which is to be explored, so reports on that later too.

Don’t forget to tell your friends about our Rally everyone is welcome and we need to keep up the effort for our Marie Curie appeal. If there is any of you who haven’t bought a raffle ticket for our Norman Metcalfe original water colours – you will be sorry as these are truly ‘one offs’ and not to be repeated. So this is your chance don’t miss it!!!!!

Take care.

Sue & Pebbles x
