Sue’s Scribbles
August
2010
Hi Guys,
First off just let me thank everyone for making our Grange
Rally/Party Weekend such a great success.
To name a few:
Chris’s Dad who came with his tractor and re cut the grass after our friendly
farmer Paul had cut all the long stuff and bailed it all.
Norman who came and ran over it with the mower to make sure it was nice and
short to walk on (it’s amazing how this stuff grows)!
Tom and Jill who made the Entertainments Barn, Fridges and Freezer fit to use.
They were so good, this was despite their own house being under considerable
renovation, but they gave up their time and cleaned like ‘gooduns’.
My Chris and Paul for all the effort they put in to make sure everything was on
‘song’ the night before.
Chris and Keith who organise the Boules Tournament every year and provide the
Trophies.
All the Marshall’s: Chris, Paul, Brian and Norm. (Dave, Brian and Charlie who
cleaned up Monday morning before they went off)
Sheena’s Tombola Team: Jean and Jill
Judges: Dave Cook, Chris Haigh and ofcourse our lovely Owen Ward who just loves
Morris Minors (Travellers are his passion) and is determined to buy his Mum one,
one day!
If I have missed anyone please forgive me.
I just wish I had, had my pedometer on, to see how many miles I walked up and
down!
The last thanks are to all the folks who come and camp and support us every
year. ‘Tent City’ is growing!!!! Even the original camp kids are turning into
adults now and still want to keep coming……..
Chris, Lotti and I went off the following weekend to the
North Wales Rally.
When I became Area 1 Liaison Officer I did promise to go
to all the Area 1 Rallies that I could. Normally on this weekend for the past
eight years we have gone to Revesby in Lincolnshire with the rest of the ‘gang’.
(not Area 1) This year we booked into a dog friendly B&B in Trefwid called
Winifred’s Rest. This is run by Gwen. Gwen has her roots in Singapore but is now
firmly settled in North Wales. Gwen’s rescue Westie is called Dumpling and lives
a lovely and carefree life. I cannot believe how dog friendly North Wales is,
Lotti was fussed and welcomed in every shop we went in, by far different to
around and about here, even a scruffy Garden Centre on our doorstep (I won’t
name and shame) told us that even though Chris was carrying Pebbles she was a
‘Health and Safety’ risk. GET A GRIP PEOPLE!
I
drove the whole weekend in Tommi my Moggy Tourer around 550 miles, Chris was
very good as a co pilot (don’t forget he usually drives), and for once didn’t
criticize my driving too much but helped me on to motor ways and through other
hazard’s. The drive down on Friday was wet and I mean wet we had the hood up and
it leaks – I mean it really leaks, we looked like lace curtains in the front as
we tried to block up the gaps with kitchen roll, it was all good fun!!!
We really chilled out for the whole weekend after the
frantic weekend before of our
own Rally it was nice to not have any responsibilities. We took in the sights of
Llandudno and Conwy on the Saturday which turned out sunny and warm. The Rally
day unfortunately wasn’t as forgiving and it did remain overcast and rainy, both
Ron and Dave from NW Branch assured me that is was the first wet Rally in 18
years – I did initially brag that every Area 1 Rally I have been to as Liaison
Officer the sun has shone…….will I ever live it down???? Having said that we
were really warmly received and we had a great day – who cares about a few drops
of rain – it was a great day and we caught up with lots of friends. Sunday we
are off again to the North East Lancashire Branch Rally so hopefully the weather
will be a little kinder, but more about that next time.
Don’t forget next meeting is our Branch BBQ at the Grange

this is all for charity. Bring along a Scarecrow friend if you wish!
