CHAIRMAN'S CHAT April 2009

Hi Guys,

I am sat here on Easter Sunday writing this while my Yorkshire Puds are cooking and wondering why every year Easter Bank Holiday weather is always so dreary, it doesn’t seem to matter whether Easter falls late or early it never appears to be any different! I keep thinking about Paul and Sheena basking in glorious sunshine in the Gambia………we also have some other friends who are sunning themselves in Madera……..ah well….

With being in the month of April ofcourse it is our Host Day at the end of the month on the 26th. Once again we are going to visit Hornsea Freeport so if anyone else reading this fancies coming along we would love to see you and your motor. We had a really good turn out last year with a variety of classics joining us for the day. Although this year I am mindful that it has clashed with Drive it Day and I do know that there are various other events going on up and down the country. The next outing we have coming up after this one is our fundraiser for Marie Curie on the 17th May, we will be touring the Wolds and then into North Yorkshire ending up at the Flask Inn near Whitby, if you are interested in eating at the Flask the final day for a pre-booked cavery is the 1st May, Pam would like a £3 deposit please. You can pick up an entry form at the Driffield Times Office or alternatively CLICK HERE to download one from this website. If anyone would like to put a poster up either in their car window or somewhere they can think of that will get it seen then please do I shall bring some to the meeting tomorrow night.  The more the merrier and ofcourse it is all for a good cause.

Don’t forget about the Area 1 Northern Regional Rally on 31st May at Eden Camp which is being hosted by Yorvik Branch, pre booking for this is essential also due to limited space.

We have just got a family car to replace the poor ill fated Navara, but this time Chris has opted for a four door automatic BM saloon instead, we need something with a bit of oomph that will tow a trailer for work purposes. Anyway Ebay struck again with this one and I must admit I do like it even though I haven’t driven an automatic car for years. When I had my first go it felt very alien but now I think I could swap him for my Corsa! (in my dreams)!!

Smarti is growing at an amazing rate, it seems no time at all since we brought her home and she was the size of two pennath of copper! She is a good little thing though and as bright as a button, so hopefully she will like travelling in the Moggie and not have the compulsion to eat it if she’s left alone in it like some small Jack Russell not sat a million miles away from me as I write this!!

Well the Yorkshires are done and my Sunday lunch guests will be here at any minute, so hopefully I shall see you all tomorrow night at the White Horse.

Sue & Pebbles xx
